COSMIC (Children of St Mary’s Intensive Care) is a registered charity (no.1043697) which works to support the children’s intensive care unit at St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington by helping patients and their families, and enabling our dedicated team to treat 500 critically ill children per year. All children that come to our ward have acute life threatening conditions, and without the vital life support provided, they would struggle to survive.
Every year the COSMIC Walk brings together all of our supporters, from past-patients and families to ward staff and donors to walk 5km to celebrate COSMIC charity and it’s incredible work. This year the COSMIC Walk will be even bigger and better as COSMIC celebrates its 20th Birthday! The event begins at Paddington Recreation Ground where entertainers and games greet Walkers before embarking on the family friendly walk! The route ends at Paddington Green School where there will be lovely tea party, bouncy castle and lots of fun games, only that with this year there is an added Birthdayesque element that you do not want to miss out on!
The COSMIC walk this year will be raising funds to refurbishment of equipment on PICU and to help provide emergency accommodation for parents, so they can be near to their critically ill child. To help achieve this goal, COSMIC are asking walkers to raise just £20 per adult and £5 per child. This can be easily achieved through a range of fundraising ideas such as cake sales, office collection tins or sponsorship forms. By raising this money together we can make a big difference to the future of our fantastic children’s intensive care ward.
As with other years we need volunteers to help us on the day and we will need help collecting raffle prizes, in particular adult raffle prizes for this year. Please get in touch via email at firstname.lastname@example.org or call the COSMIC office on 020 3312 6497.
