Join us for the Dance and the Homemade Round 2 sharing with commissioned artists Lydia Cottrell and Greg Wohead.
Lydia has been looking at hair, she has experienced the loss of her own, she has gathered stories from others. She has found that everyone has a HairStory to tell, these stories can say a lot about that person, the area they are collected from, they can be hilarious and also deeply heartfelt, they can be political, sometimes even scary but they are always interesting and worthy of being told. This work is the result of a process looking into our relationship with what we have.
Greg has been thinking about reenactments. He has been thinking about time drag; wearing another time as drag and dragging another time into the present. He has been thinking about Elvis Presley’s 1968 Comeback Special. And those hips. Oh. Those hips.
He wonders what would happen if he tried to reenact that Comeback Special and what the slippage in that attempt might say about the off-centred-ness of his experience of straight masculinity.
In this sharing he will show you where his explorations have taken him so far.
