If you’ve just bustled out of Westfield Stratford completely knackered after a day’s shopping or just looking for a pub with traditional English character and a good pint, then King Eddies is the pub to go to. It’s divided up between the loyal locals and the fresh crowds from the newly-rejuvenated Stratford area, and caters to both.
A decent range of pale ales are on tap, as well as a few beers from further afield, sometimes on draught and sometimes bottled. The wine list is also impressive, as is the food menu in a successful attempt to appeal to the exhausted shoppers amongst the new patrons. You’ll find fish and chips and steak, but also lobster, venison and wild salmon filling out the menu instead of the usual burger. That’s not to say the pub has an air of pretentiousness about it, the decor, the friendly staff, pub quizzes and open mic nights put this pub firmly in the traditional category. They’ve modernised in a very satisfying way.
