Rough Luxe seems to be a rebellious statement; that around the King’s Cross area a hotel can look rough around the edges but still deliver. It certainly has the rough look, but in a very precise way.

No two rooms are the same – one has a copper tub, the other chic vases, another has mosaic poking through the tattered wallpaper. If you like your hotels with that kind of ‘worn character’, then Rough Luxe has it in spades.

They’ll serve you breakfast and a fairly extensive choice of wines, although in the hotel’s own words – “London has some amazing restaurants – we couldn’t compete and so we don’t”. But if you fancy a bit to eat with the owners, or a glass of wine in the evening, then they’re more than happy to accommodate. In it’s own way, Rough Luxe really does live up to its name and chic style.
