About
The Backyard Comedy Club presents:
Pre Edinburgh shows Sunday 7th July with Lucy Porter, Dave Griffiths, Marcus Brigstocke
16.30 Lucy Porter – Northern Soul
Familiar from popular TV and Radio panel shows such as Never Mind The Buzzcocks, Mock The Week and The Unbelievable Truth – returns to the UK tour circuit, fresh from The Edinburgh Fringe Festival, with her best show yet.
Does geography shape our destiny? Born in Croydon to a Northern Irish dad and a Midlander mum (who met in Africa), Lucy never felt that she belonged down South. She tried moving to Manchester, marrying a Welshman and travelling the world, but she’s still – like the littlest hobo – seeking her spiritual home.
“Impeccably punchlined anecdotes of the everyday. Genuinely delightful” The Telegraph
“Fizzing with inventive one-liners, a treat from start to finish” The Herald
18.30 Dave Griffiths – C U in Court
The extraordinary true story of how comedian Dave Griffiths \’very funny\’ (Time Out) obsessively fought clothing giant French Connection for his right to wear his CNUT t-shirts on stage. An incredible David vs Goliath story exposing the unbelievable double standards, intimidation and ruthlessness of huge corporations. Directed by Neil Kinsella
‘Dave Griffiths dances on the edge of law and fashion and his show, as well as being extremely funny, tells us something very important about corporate power and freedom of expression\’
(Guy Osborn Head of Law University of Westminster)
‘Cnut…does make exceeding good t-shirts’
(Judge Richard Arnold QC reading from the King Cnut website in court)
20.45 Marcus Brigstocke – Je m’accuse – I am Marcus.
Podium dancer, oil rig worker, food addict, musical theatre enthusiast, posh, eco-hypocrite, ex Goth, muppet fan, award winning comedian and chief beverages operator at the Little Chef – screw politics! Let’s talk about me.
