A hipster alternative to the chain stores of Tesco and Sainsbury’s, The People’s Supermarket aims to connect local communities with local farmers. If you’re just visiting the place – it has fresh ingredients and produce including freshly baked breads, fresh fruits and veg, locally sourced cereals, meat and cheese among other foods. If you happen to live near the store, the main allure of the supermarket comes into play. For £25 and four hours a month working in the store, you get a say in how the place is run. It’s a good effort to bring the local community together when chain supermarkets are busy sweeping away the smaller stores and worth checking out to help support the independent shops of London.
