The tallest building in London and western Europe, The Shard towers over all other skyscrapers in the nation’s capital. From February 1st 2013, you can take a trip to floors 68 to 72 of the building for a view that’s twice the height of any other in London.
The building, being freshly opened last year, has all the technology you’d expect once you step inside. Televisions in the lobby give you the facts of London and the locations of other landmarks you’ll be looking down on from your viewing platform. After the extremely quick lift up to floor 68, old-fashioned telescopes are ditched in favour of interactive touchscreens that give you a panoramic view of the city and beyond, to almost 40 miles away on a clear day. The Shard has attempted to make their attraction far more than just the view, although once you see it we doubt you’ll be thinking about anything else. Tickets are £24.95 adults, £18.95 children.
