A free destination for the incurably curious (as the official website puts it), the Wellcome Collection is an unusual museum located at Euston Road. Displaying a mixture of medical artifacts and original artworks, it supposedly explores the connection between medicine, life and art, an odd goal to say the least.
It has plenty of content too. It’s got more than 750,000 books, journals and manuscripts, the medical collection has more than a million objects and the whole place is hence absolutely filled with things to see and do, with regular events and exhibitions taking place there every day.
Founded by Sir Henry Wellcome, whose collection makes up much of the content of the museum. Entry is entirely free, with galleries being open between 10am and 6pm on most weekdays (except Mondays where they’re closed). The bookshop and Welcome Café are open seven days a week, with their hours being 9.30am to 6pm and 10am to 6pm respectively, except on Thursdays.
