The Vaudeville has a rich history of theatre. Built behind two houses in April 1870, over the years it has been expanded on to The Strand and been made into a very successful venue. It’s become famous for amazing performance runs over the years, with Our Boys by H J Byron enjoying 1,362 performances in 1875, and most notable the 1954 production of Salad Days earning a run of 2,288 performances.
More recently The Vaudeville has hosted the hit performance Stomp from 2002-7, Swimming With Sharks with Christian Slater in 2007 and The Prisoner of Second Avenue with Jeff Goldblum in 2010. After 143 years it’s still going strong, and still putting up great plays with big names.
