Weighting is an extraordinary show about an ordinary family living in a grey world of routine and simplicity.
Across the bridge the world is full of colour, excitement, and music. However to get to the other side the family have to risk everything. And then one day the mother decides to leave and cross the bridge. Will she make it home in time for tea?
Weighting fuses music, circus, and dance and theatre into a 45 minute show with a beautiful musical score written by! Dom Coyote (Kneehigh, BAC) and Ted Barnes (Beth Orton). The music is played by a five piece band and includes a finale song sung by a 100 strong integrated locally recruited choir.
The cast includes 8 extraordinary performers who take to the air in a joyful exploration of equilibrium and balance, of departures, journeys and of risk taking and transformation. The shows takes place on a 12m by 12m rig which suspends our simple and transformative set, from bridge to staircase, swinging and lifting our 8 strong company high into the air.
The creative team behind the show includes celebrated writer Hattie Naylor, Circus Director Billy Alwen, of Cirque Bijou, and Theatre Director Claire Hodgson, of Diverse City. Lead artists include Jamie Beddard and Karina Jones.
